Purple House Project PA hosted its 3rd Annual Purple Path Walk/Resource Fair on October 5th 2019. This event is held in order to continue to bring awareness to intimate partner violence in conjunction with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Each year Purple Path focuses on a need tied to domestic violence. The theme this year was: My Purple Path Needs You emphasizing the importance of mental health and self-care. The event was held in the Collingdale community at the Collingdale Track and was a huge success with over 50 participants, 15 vendors and 5 sponsors!
The event was alive with laughter and conversation thanks to DJ Akomplish and MC host Nicole Phoenix who kept everyone energized and going! Annette Deigh was honored at the event and received an award for her support in the community and with PHPPA. Participants shopped, danced, and enjoyed good food and raffle drawings. Participants learned about ways to de-stress and take care of themselves, and were able to recognize loved ones who had experienced domestic violence by purchasing ribbons.
Lastly participants walked; they walked to remember, they walked to fight for those still in the cycle of violence, and they walked with hope that one day intimate partner violence will no longer be an epidemic. In all, participants were encouraged to walk seven laps to symbolize the number of times it takes a woman to leave an intimate partner violence relationship. Thank you everyone who supported Purple Path 2019!
