Our 2026 Initiative

In 2026, our focus centers on the ways intimate partner violence intersects with maternal health, and this year’s Purple Path will be dedicated to learning, awareness, and community conversation around this initiative.

Below are key insights that help ground this year’s focus and deepen understanding around this intersection.

01.

Birthing persons who are abused during pregnancy are more likely to delay entry into prenatal care.

03.

Up to 20% of birthing persons experience violence during pregnancy, which is more common than gestational diabetes or preeclampsia.

05.

Homicide is the leading cause of death among pregnant people in the United States.

07.

77% of pregnant homicide victims are killed during the first trimester of their pregnancy.

09.

Intimate partner violence during pregnancy is associated with a reduction in birth weight.

02.

About 6% of people with a recent live birth faced violence from a current partner during pregnancy.

04.

50-75% of birthing individuals who faced violence from a current partner during pregnancy experienced it before as well.

06.

45.3% of homicides of pregnant people or those within a year of pregnancy are linked to intimate partner violence.

08.

Birthing persons with unintended pregnancies are two to four times more likely to experience physical violence than those with planned pregnancies.

7 Purposeful Programs

7 Purposeful Programs

We offer thoughtfully designed programming, both virtually and in-person, that support stability, growth, and well-being through education, guidance, and community connection.

Filling Families' Fridges

Through seasonal programming around Easter and Thanksgiving, we come together to help ensure families have the ingredients for a complete, nourishing meal—pie included… because every family deserves a feast.

We also assist with emergency groceries and offer connections to local food banks when additional support is needed.

You may also find us present at local community dinners, such as Darby Borough Community Dinners, where we share resources and show up with care alongside our neighbors.

Food items are available while supplies last.

It Takes a Village

We create welcoming, family-centered experiences that support both mothers and their children, with child-friendly programming or childcare support available at our events.

We also offer connections to trusted mentorship and academic support programs, such as Youth Angel Scholars and ASK for Tutoring, to help families stay encouraged and supported along the way.

Trauma-Informed Comprehensive Case Management

We offer trauma-informed, comprehensive case management that provides steady, individualized support through coordination of care, including relocation assistance, transportation support, access to evaluations (i.e., emotional support animal and medical marijuana evaluations), and the delivery of personal care items.

Virtual Advocacy

On our social media platforms, we share educational and awareness-based content designed to inform, empower, and foster community understanding.

Through our virtual programs HerStory (March, in honor of Women’s History Month) and PrideStory (June, in celebration of Pride Month), women are invited to share stories of strength each week, uplifting personal voice, visibility, and connection.

Goal Doula

Through Goal Doula, Christine offers thoughtful guidance and mentorship for social work interns and emerging entrepreneurs, creating a supportive space for learning, growth, and confident next steps.

This program provides supervision for social work students and mentorship for those exploring or building purpose-driven work, including individuals seeking to establish nonprofit organizations.

Sprinkle of Joy Community Outreach

Through Sprinkle of Joy Community Outreach, we show up in community through shelter visits, local tabling events, and resource sharing.

We offer personal care items and foster meaningful connections that provide hope and support, extending small moments of care that uplift and encourage.

Trauma-Informed Therapy

In partnership with Community Behavioral Health, we work with trauma-informed therapists who create safe, supportive spaces where individuals can be seen, heard, and gently supported in their healing and growth.
